Wed - Stefanie and Donavon

I spent a very special day with Stefanie and Donavon last week. They began my '6 days, 3 weddings' adventure. And it was a great start.

Their beach-themed wedding at Lake Wilderness Lodge in Maple Valley had many sentimental touches and moments. Family played a big part - including their two children. Listening to the story of how Stefanie and Donavon came in and out of each other's lives for years before finally realizing they were meant for each other was quite sweet.

Kru

This little one just turned 6-months old and was a dream to photograph.

While his mama was finishing getting ready, he sat there and smiled at me.

Yep, he's a heart melter.

Here's a glimpse of today's session with smiley 6-month-old Kru. What an adorable boy!

The Franklin Five (Six!)

I met up with the Franklin family at Theler Wetlands in Belfair last Friday.

You might notice Alanna's adorable belly - there's a new little Franklin in there! Pregnancy becomes her, don't you think? She's lovely.

I spent more time running during this session than walking, chasing the kids and trying to catch up. Such a lovely family.

Near the end of the session, it began to rain... but, hey, we are Washingtonians, we can handle it. As we were thinking of leaving, I said 'hey, let's head out on the dock anyway. Who cares about a little rain?'

I think it was worth it (despite a few raindrops here and there).
 

Ham It Up

I was processing the Franklin family's session this evening and I stumbled upon this photo.

Allen is totally hamming it up. And I love it.

Here's how this went down:
Allen: "Take my picture! Take a picture of me like this!"
Me: "Okay. I'm going to take a picture right up your nose!"
And that's pretty much it.

I just wanted to use this silly photo to take the opportunity to say this: It's okay to ham it up a bit during a session. It makes for some humorous photos and helps maintain a relaxed mood.

So, ham on.
