Kru

This little one just turned 6-months old and was a dream to photograph.

While his mama was finishing getting ready, he sat there and smiled at me.

Yep, he's a heart melter.

Without further ado, here are some of my favorites from Kru's session.

Look at that smile!

The Franklin Five (Six!)

I met up with the Franklin family at Theler Wetlands in Belfair last Friday.

You might notice Alanna's adorable belly - there's a new little Franklin in there! Pregnancy becomes her, don't you think? She's lovely.

I spent more time running during this session than walking, chasing the kids and trying to catch up. Such a lovely family.

Near the end of the session, it began to rain... but, hey, we are Washingtonians, we can handle it. As we were thinking of leaving, I said 'hey, let's head out on the dock anyway. Who cares about a little rain?'

I think it was worth it (despite a few raindrops here and there).

Nathan

I remember meeting Nathan when he was a little boy. I've seen him grow into a young man. But, it was only as I reviewed photos from his graduation session that I realized how 'grown up' he is.

I did some reflecting on what I've observed about him while spending time with his family. I have never once heard him speak disrespectfully to or about his parents. I've never seen a teenager that seemed to get along with people so well. For the past several years, he has spent 70+ hours volunteering every month. He is considerate and quick to smile. And he has some very serious goals that I have absolute confidence he will reach.

During our session, Nate's smile was ever-present. He told me that he prefers smiling pictures over serious ones. I threw in a few serious photos for good measure but for the most part, he is always smiling anyway... so it fits.

Nate, it was a pleasure photographing you as you transition to a new phase of your life. We are all very proud of you. NathanGradSession wm 25

Lisa & Josh

These two.... oh my goodness. I just pretty much stood there snapping away and capturing their smiles.

Lisa is my BFFs sister, and apparently there's something in their genes, because my camera loves all 3 of those sisters.

For this session, we tromped through wet grass, keeping our eye out for cow patties. The weather was perfect - a bit cloudy but fairly warm.

You might not see their sweet smiles on the blog for a while because Lisa and Josh will be getting married in the spring of 2013. But, until then... LisaJoshEng w 15

Chrissy & Fidel

I've known Chrissy for a few years - we bonded over our geeky jobs and lamenting our then-single state.

When she told me that she'd found someone... the one, I was deeply happy for her. I met Fidel initially at my wedding, so this engagement session was the first time I really had a chance to see these two interact.

They are so sweet. And content. And in love.

When I asked Fidel what stood out to him when he first met Chrissy, his answer was rather poetic. He said "she shines." Chrissy explained that he says that about people that have that special something. When you look at these pictures, I think you'll see too that Chrissy and Fidel both shine. Love does that to people.

I couldn't be happier for them... and I'm so excited to be capturing their wedding in September.

Special thanks to my good-natured husband, who scouted photo spots, carried my equipment and stuffed leaves, rocks and pinecones into his pockets for me. Good man.

Claire - Sneak Peek

This morning, my husband and I plopped into our little Geo Metro convertible and drove out to the country, where one of my best friends lives with her growing family.

I was planning on capturing some moments with her youngest, 18-month-old Claire. But, as usual, I ended up photographing the whole family.

Here's a sneak peek. Claire SneakPeek 3 Claire SneakPeek 12 Claire SneakPeek 16 Claire SneakPeek 21 Claire SneakPeek 25 Claire SneakPeek 34 Claire SneakPeek 35 Claire SneakPeek 37

Elli & Brandon @ The Color Run

I love these two.

We've been friends for several years, but it's only recently that they became family (when I married Elli's brother). And I couldn't be happier.

They make me laugh to the point of nearly peeing my pants on a regular basis.

After they ran The Color Run, we celebrated the event with a mini photo session, where they had two cameras pointed at them. (My good friend Cassie of CLK Photography was also there shooting.)

The Color Run

Last Sunday, I showed up to volunteer (along with my husband and a good friend who is also a photographer) at a unique event in Seattle - The Color Run, a 5k race involving throwing 'color' (basically color dust) at participants at each kilometer.

After fulfilling our assignment to give people directions before the race, we headed to the finish line to start taking pictures. We were also cheering on my sister-in-law Elli (an artistic photographer) and her husband Brandon (a talented musician).

It was awesome.

As a photographer, The Color Run combined my favorite things: people, vibrant color and the ability to blend into a crowd and capture moments as they happen.

Next year I hope that I can register in time to run (it sold out so quickly!), but either way I wouldn't miss being there to take pictures.

I'll share another post soon with some pictures I took of Elli and Brandon after the race. I seriously love these pictures.
